Rambler is a dog with an extreme working drive and has been our
lead find/jump dog on cattle and hogs since he was 8 months old. In
October of 2003, while baying cattle in Vicksburg, MS near the Eagle
Lake Levee, he left on a wild cow and bayed too long non-stop and
had seriously over-heated. When I found him, he was still trying to
bay the cow but had nearly collapsed. I had to bring him out and let
the cow go, fearing that he may not recover.
Shortly after is when I
decided to formally retire him from our day to day cattle business
and turn his job over to J Cross' Cinder and J Cross' Gator.
He and Justin have had quite a bit of success showing/trialing.
We do not exhibit him in the NALC cow dog trials. He's a dog that is
accustomed to finding and baying very rough cattle, and is a bit too
serious about his job for the trials. We currently show him in
Showmanship, Conformation, Treeing, B Bay and Open/ABDR Hog Dog
Trials and have had great results.
Please see the awards page for a
listing of some of his wins.
In the spring of 2005, we let Rambler go back to work baying
cattle and hog hunting on a limited basis, it's proven to be exactly
what he wanted. The photos shown are Rambler and some of his
get learning from and working with 'Dad' at 7 years of age.
***Rambler has NALC Championship points in Conformation, A Bay, B
Bay and Treeing.***
Rambler has proven himself as a sire for us time and again. To
date, 10 different pups sired by him have been shown, 2 of which are
NALC campions and all 10 have earned NALC championship points in
multiple events, as well as being money earners in ABDR/Open Hog dog
trials. His pups go to work every day in the field, then clean up to
go to the show.
At this time, we are not standing Rambler for stud service
outside of our kennel.
