This page showcases dogs
that have been in foster care for over 6mths. Often we concentrate on the
life and death cases and forget about the ones that have already been saved.
By adopting a foster dog you free up that space for a dog on death row in a
shelter. You also get the benefit of knowing the dog's personality thanks
to the foster family's observations. This makes it far easier to match the
RIGHT dog to you. Foster family's work with these dogs on basic training,
rehabbing if necessary, and exposing them to a variety of situations.
They have a good idea of what their fosters are like and the kinds of
homes they would do best in. All fosters are up to date on shots,
spayed or neutered and have been treated if ill. Vet and food
bills add up and are rarely covered with adoption fees. If you can
not foster or adopt a dog please consider sponsoring one.
Sponsoring a dog frees up badly need money to pull, vet and save more
dogs in need. Donations are greatly appreciated, tax deductible and

Simon has been in foster care for 9 months now and we just can't understand how such a wonderful
dog has gone un-noticed. This great boy, now about 1 and half years old, was dumped at a CA shelter
when he was only 6mo. Simon would make a great companion dog for just about any one. He adores people,
is active and aims to please.
Simon would do best as an only pet as he is very picky about the other animals he likes.

Darla was saved from a gassing shelter in Southwestern Oklahoma just a
few hours before she was to be killed. This shelter is not known for its
clean or humane conditions. Poor Darla, about 8-9 months old, had four
kinds of intestinal parasites as well as two different bacterial infections.
She was also severely infested with ticks and fleas, to the point that she
had granuloma infections all over her body, and was terribly anemic.
To add insult to injury, she had just come out of being in heat, and
had just become pregnant! Considering her terrible condition, the stress
from the pregnancy might have endangered her life, so it was decided that
she should not become a teen mother; .
Darla has undergone considerable veterinary care in the past week.
She is being treated for her parasites and intestinal infections and her anemia.
Despite her recent surgery and feeling so bad, she has started to move
around some and wag her tail, and is getting a little bit of her appetite back
, although she is still very thin. Her foster dad says she's one of the
most affectionate dogs he's ever seen. She's certainly not ready for adoption,
but could really use a sponsor or two, to help with her ongoing medical bills.

Freckles has been in foster care for a year, dreaming of
a forever home. Freckles was rescued from a high kill shelter in
Florida, treated successfully for heartworm and is now on preventative.
Freckles gets along with cats, loves kids and people: she will make a
very low maintenance friend and companion. Freckles is between three and
five years old, loves to go on walks, is crate trained and house
trained, just a great girl waiting for her life's companion to find her.
Freckles is spayed and up to date on her shots. This photo does not do
her justice, she is much prettier in person. When she is walked everyone

They tell me I'm 5
but I act like a puppy, I'm very playful. I'm also neutered, up to date
on all shots, hw negative and on monthly hw prevention. I love to play
with other dogs and kids and I'm already housebroken & crate trained. My
foster mom says I walk great on a leash and I love to go for car rides.
I'm very well behaved; I sit, stay, speak, have great manners, & love to
give kisses and I am GORGEOUS!!! Since I'm an all around great dog,
won't you please adopt me and give me a forever home.

Update May 14th- A new
pic to show off this happy boy for the beautiful guy he is. Maybe
now someone will see their match made in heaven. Sam has been heartworm treated, neutered, and has gained 10 pounds. He's a boxer/ cur mix, probably about 18 months old and a wonderful boy. He's great with other dogs, loves attention, knows sit and comes when called. He's calm and easy going and doesn't dig, chew, or jump fences. This is Bonnie, she has been in foster care for awhile.
She is about 8-9 months old, about 35 lbs, has a blue eye and a brown
eye. She is spayed and utd on shots. She loves kids and other dogs and
would love to be a couch potato! She would make a great running partner
as she has lots of energy. She is crate trained and loves treats of any

Poor Skye has been in foster care for a LOONG time !!!
.He is now 2 and 1/2 years old. This sweet, beautiful boy has done very
well in foster care and has become accustomed to his canine companions in
foster care. Skye IS a dominant male, however and will need an experienced
Catahoula owner, if he is to live, peaceably with a canine companion. THANKS
TO THE WORK OF A WONDERFUL FOSTER MOM, Skye is fully trained on the invisifence and is free to
roam around his 1/2 acre yard with 3 other dogs. He only barks when engaging
in play and sleeps with them on a comfy bed. Skye has come a long way in
a little time. He loves to be around people but when left alone Skye lays
in his opened crate and waits for a family member to come home. He is a
very loving boy who just needed to be loved back. Skye's only wish now,
is to be a household (indoor) family member.

Catahoula Lab mix tested heartworm negative, fully vaccinated & neutered.
About 2 years old and in very good condition with lots of energy like a
working dog should have. Needs someone who understands the breed.
Jazz currently weighs just under 60 pounds. He has a lot of vocus and loyalty
and would probably make an INCREDIBLE agility dog! He has been in boarding
for a very long time and needs his very own person to devote himself to.
He has exibited some seperation anxiety but I think that he will settle
once he knows he is home to stay.
He also would not be good with cats. Please consider giving him a place in your heart and home.

Check out this match made in heaven! Pepper and CD have been together
all their lives and show it, they are completely inseparable. These 2 have suffered
a life of ignorance to say the least. Pepper and CD's owner never had
them fixed and kept them penned outside together all these years. There
is not telling how many unwanted litters of puppies these 2 have
produced or what the fate of those puppies was. In August 2006,
Catahoula Rescue was contacted by a shelter in OH that Pepper and CD had
been dumped at the shelter by their owner because Pepper was once again
pregnant. Pepper is a very sweet, outgoing girl who loves
pets and kisses. CD is more standoff-ish, shy and relies on Pepper to let him know what
to do in most situations. CD follows Pepper every where she goes and always sleeps along
side her. On September 5th, Pepper and CD became the proud parents of 7 beautiful babies.
Pepper has been a wonderful mother, and now these two need a home
of their own. Pepper is very sweet and out going, but CD is very timid. Pepper does not like cats, CD really has no interest in them.
They get along with other dogs, but Pepper takes a while to warm up. CD gets over
whelmed easily by too many dogs around him and just tries to get away. CD is completely
blind in one eye and partially blind in the other. They need a
home with no small children

| Honey is a very special dog! She is a rescue from a shelter and has been
a foster for four months.
Honey has partial vision and sees about 30% of what other dogs see due to a birth defect.
She sees with her heart and with her keen intelligence. She navigates with her sense of smell and
her intuition. Honey is only about 2 - 3 years old. She loves people. Chew toys and treats are
next on her list. She would enjoy accompanying her owner in just about any activity. She is an
energetic and very happy dog. Her tail is wagging all the time. Due to her size and youth Honey
would do better with children eight or older. She is as beautiful, in spirit, as in appearance.
She has a honey-colored coat of short hair. She always looks freshly brushed. She is housebroken.
She weighs about 70 pounds. She is in excellent health, and is already spayed, vaccinated and on
heartworm preventative. If you are that special person who will appreciate Honey's

I'm currently in a foster home through Catahoula Rescue
and I don't understand why. I'm a very lovable guy and I
can even "talk" to you. I'm looking for my new best friend,
someone who will love me and give me a home of my very own.
I like to play alot, I'll even sit on your lap if you let me I'm
very silly. I'm two and a half years old and up to date on all my shots, neutered,
house & crate trained. I love the water and car rides. So what do you

Noelle is a sweet young Catahoula mama who wandered
up to a Good Samaritan's house pregnant and emaciated on Christmas Eve.
Noelle has raised her puppies, who have all found homes while she is
still in foster care. Noelle is housetrained,
gets along nicely with
other dogs, and is an all around sweetheart. She will make a lovely
