Myths and legends surround the Catahoula Leopard Dog, some bordering on the fantastic. What is certain is that the Catahoula is a dog with American roots, bred by the original European settlers of the Gulf States, who used the dogs to work livestock. Today, Catahoulas continue to do the work for which they were originally bred, used by farmers, ranchers, and hunters throughout the United States and Canada.

Visit the Catahoula Owners message board to become involved. We've reorganized the site so you can find information on Leopard dogs, sports, work, and more that's new in the houla world much easier. Enjoy the new site.

 Welcome to Catahouligans

Our members are an eclectic mix of people from around the world and all walks of life, that come together to share their love for their Catahoulas.

We are made up of those that own, breed, rescue, work, play...and most of all...love our dogs.  There is nothing quite like owning a Catahoula, and none better to share the experiences with (and yes frustrations), than other houla owners.

On this site and especially the message board, you can find help, answers, advice, support, friendship and a good laugh.

This site is still under construction as we strive to add more content that will be of interest to Catahoula Owners.  With the help of our members we are adding first hand knowledge of sports and jobs that houlas are involved in...the challenges and the triumphs.  Is there anything a Catahoula can't do?
