Pic of the Week:

Sent in by Brian M.

This is my girl Avery. She was previously known as Big Bertha before I adopted her.

Before I got married I adopted Avery and my fiancée (now wife) adopted Avery’s brother Sammy (previously known as Little Joe). They now live together with us and are taking over our bed.  We got our houlas from Staci with Oklahoma Catahoula rescue.

If you haven't mentioned Monday's Dogs to your friends and coworkers please do so. Monday's dogs can be found at Catahouligans.com by clicking on the menu on the main page. Last year you saved 365 dogs. Let's see if we can do better this year.

*Please Remember*: By adopting one of our foster dogs you save 2 lives! It frees up space for a dog in a kill shelter that needs to be pulled and vetted. If our foster dogs don't get homes, we have no room to pull any of the dogs that are listed below (most of which need vetting and evaluations by our volunteers). Help us Help more dogs, check out the links above...Adopt a Foster Dog!

The dogs listed below have One Week Or Less to Live.  Without Foster or Adoptive homes for these dogs to go to, Catahoula Rescue Inc. can not pull these dogs from the shelter and save their lives.  Please Contact the Reps listed ASAP if you can help save one of these dogs.

Lily
FT. Worth, TX area
979-561-8155
Adopt Me

Lily was apparently dumped beside a farm to market road outside of Ft. Worth. A woman noticed her in the same place beside the road for several days ... apparently waiting for her people to come back and get her. The woman checked with the animal shelter and local vets to see if anyone was looking for a lost dog. When she couldn't find an owner, she started feeding Lily, who then took up residence on the woman's front porch. There are already several dogs in the home, one of whom will not allow another female into the house or yard. Poor Lily just hangs around out front and there is concern that she will get hit by a car on the busy road. She needs a foster or adopter ASAP. She's probably between 1 and 2 years old, calm and friendly.

Houston, TX

Adopt Me

This pup is 3-4 months old. He happened to arrive at the Houston pound while a Catahoula Rescue volunteer was there pulling another dog. The volunteer said he was very frightened, but friendly. She also said he is VERY cute. He is most likely deaf and will not go into the adoption program. He needs rescue immediately if he is going to get out alive.

Someone please help us save these babies...there are seven twelve-week-old puppies in the Columbia, TN animal shelter. This shelter is very rescue friendly, and the staff there really want to see these pups leave th shelter alive. All of CRI Northeast's foster homes are overflowing, and we really need some new foster parents to join up now. Adopters welcome too! These pups are sweet, curious, playful little creatures who will become devoted pets if given the chance. Look at all of their pictures...please help us save them!

Hank
Central Texas
979-561-8155
Adopt Me

Hank is a handsome blue-eyed red leopard boy who was picked up running stray near Austin, TX. He's in a small town shelter and his stray hold time is up. Hank can be killed at any time, but the shelter has agreed to hold him for evaluation by Catahoula Rescue. A volunteer will meet him early this week and more information will be available at that time.

Cinnamon
FLORIDA
406-323-3519
Adopt Me

Cinnamon is a scared, skinny girl stuck in a very high kill shelter. She is very worried about what will happen to her, but she is still gentle and loving to anyone who shows her kindness. Cinnamon has only a couple of days to live if we cannot get her out of there. If you can help us save this pretty dog, please call Janeen right away!

Jamison
PA

Adopt Me

***Update 04/07: Jamison is still in Urgent need of Rescue!!!!*** Poor Jamison was adopted from the pound, then returned because he was being food possessive. Dogs who have spent any time on the streets guard their food, because they never know when they will get any more! This behavior can be eliminated easily with a little training, and Catahoula Rescue Inc. has a dedicated dog behaviorist who will help teach Jamison the proper way to behave. The folks at the pound tell us that Jamison is AWESOME- he is very dog friendly (used to share a cage with a male pit bull), people friendly, beautiful and healthy. He is not really high energy, but athletic and affectionate. He is male, probably one or two years old, and already neutered. They do not want to euthanize this poor boy just because he is food possessive, but he needs our help to get out of the pound ASAP, as they are full to capacity and are forced to euthanize due to space constraints.

Bones
FL

Adopt Me

Bones is URGENT! His foster mom is moving and he needs a new foster home or an adopter ASAP!! If not he'll have to be boarded. Hi, I'm Bones and I would really like a home of my own. I'm a very lovable guy and I can even 'talk' to you. I'm looking for my new best friend, someone who will love me and give me a home of my very own. I like to play alot, I'll even sit on your lap (even though I am 80lbs) if you let me I'm very silly. I'm 3 yrs old, like other dogs & kids but not cats, up to date on my shots, neutered, microchipped, house & crate trained. I love the water and car rides. So what do you say? How about giving me a chance to be your best friend? You won't regret it!!!!!! I promise! I am very handsome with a blue spot in one of my eyes.

Blizzard
FL

Adopt Me

Blizzard is a great dog, about one year old. He is house and crate trained. Blizzard loves to ride in the car...he entertains ambitions of learning to drive! He is very playful, loving and likes to give lots of kisses. Blizzard loves other dogs and children! Blizzard's only problem is, he thinks cats exist for him to chase, and his owner's cats are feeling persecuted. Blizzard needs to find a cat-free home! He is current on all of his shots, on monthly heartworm prevention and already neutered...he's ready to come home with you today!

RAJA
KEY WEST FLORIDA
406-323-3519
Adopt Me

** UPDATE: 4-16/08 This dog still languishes in a low kill shelter where large dogs are not adopted out quickly. I have no place for him to go. If the shelter gets full.. he dies. Is the littermate to Phantom. He was pulled from a Fl high kill shelter and is now in a VERY VERY TEMP situation. HE IS REALLY URGENT in a true sense. He and Phantom have always been joined at the hip and where they are we are not getting much in the way of home evaluation. We need desperately someone that can foster these two and help me wean them and get them ready for adoption. Raja is outgoing and more secure of the two. A young male and will be growing into his feet and head. He is Mastiff X Catahoula. A lovely lovely boy all yellow and brindle. I NEED HELP WITH THESE TWO DOGS DESPERATELY. I need someone willing to work closely with me. I think they are young and will respond fine in a home environment. IF YOU CAN HELP, we need to move on it.
